Orthopedic Services
Orthopedic surgeons at Scheer Memorial Hospital specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system, the department also sees congenital anomalies, tumors, and inflammatory conditions.
Our department of orthopedic surgery is committed to the Hospital mission of whole person care. To the orthopedic surgeon this consists of excellent, cost-effective patient care in an environment that recognizes the spiritual, psychological, and non-orthopedic medical needs of our patients. The Orthopedic Department of Scheer Memorial Hospital is one of the busiest departments, caring for an average of 40 to 50 outpatients, 15 to 20 inpatients, 4 to 5 operations, and 15 to 20 outpatient procedures in a single working day.
There are two orthopedic surgeons in the department supported by two medical officers and three OPD support staff.
The department sees mostly trauma cases which are more common because of its location. Pediatric trauma and road traffic accidents are especially common. Infection of soft tissues and bones are the second most common cases.
For the past 2 years we have been performing Sign Nail surgeries and recently, the department has started diagnostic and therapeutic arthroscopic surgeries of knee, shoulder and ankle joints; spinal operations; and joint replacement surgeries. We are proud to announce that hip arthroscopy surgery is now also being performed.
