Scheer Memorial Hospital is nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, surrounded by sprawling rice fields and quaint villages. Every season brings a new hue to the panorama. Monsoon is vibrant green, in winter the sky clears and you can see the purple and white of towering peaks in the distance, spring brings a carpet of yellow mustard flowers to the feilds and pink rhodadendrons in the jungle. The people too are beautiful, colorful saris and ready smiles make it a must to have your camera on hand at all times. We hope you can take a few mintues to browse our photo galleries.

Scheer Memorial Memories
Fall 2011
Goodbyes are hard, but unfortunately they are a part of life. After two plus years serving the people of Nepal, Dr. Carlyle Welch, surgeon, and his wife, Lora, R.N., finished their term here at Scheer Memorial Hospital. Minnesota is their home and where they headed back to. We already miss their smiling faces and dedication. Thank you for your service to Scheer and enjoy your retirement!
This fall was the “Fall of the Visitors!” We were blessed to have various teams visiting us—keeping us busy, helping many patients and improving the quality of their lives. After all, this is what we’re here to do and having extra help is such a bonus to a hospital that runs on prayers and donations.
Centura Global Health Initiatives’s Gynocology team from Colorado came to us again. We are so happy they have us on their “list” as they travel numerous places in the world. Luckily for more patients, they are coming again in February 2012. Besides doing prolapsed uterus surgeries, which bring life back to the patients, they also brought a team to do clinics in neighboring villages. Our school, Esa Memorial School, also benefited from a group who came every morning to do Vacation Bible School activities. The children were enchanted! Thank you Centura! We can’t wait for you to arrive again.
Right after Centura left, the ADRA Japan Cleft Lip Palate Team arrived to do a much needed surgery that is often impossible for the patients here without assistance. Many of the patients were adorable children who can now happily smile in public with their new beautiful smiles! Thank you so much! We look forward to your next visit.
Right after they left, a team from Holland’s Vrouwen voor Vrouwen (Women for Women) came again for more prolapsed uterus surgeries. You can see that there is a real need for these kinds of surgeries. Many patients come from the far away villages where there are no hospitals and so health care is far away. Benefits are huge for the whole family when the patients “feel normal” again. Thank you Vrouwen voor Vrouwen! Every time you come, you forever change lives!
Thank you for stopping by to "visit" and may the Lord continue blessing you and all you love! See you "next time!"
